BOOK REVIEW: another final girl by Vanessa Maki
(this review contains no spoilers)
Dedicated to the 'badass final girls who keep surviving', another final girl by Vanessa Maki relays several powerful poems that reflect the uphill battle that is surviving trauma and hard times.
The chapbook covers topics such as trauma, survivor's guilt, recovery with each poem told through the bloodied lens of a named or unnamed 'final girl' with references to classic horror movie heroines such as Laurie Strode and Erin Harson really bringing home the strong yet dark messages of each piece.
Overall, I'd definitely check out this chilling little chapbook if you're into powerful poetry with an ongoing narrative of strength and survival, and final girls.
